About Michael

Michael, dubbed “The Dean of Leanteaches organizations the living, breathing, essential LEAN processes that build successful, self-sustaining corporate cultures.

As  president of  The LEAN Consulting Group Ltd, Michael leads a highly trained group of dedicated consultants, referred to as “The Implementation People” who are skilled at implementing sustainable LEAN practices.

His 12 year background as a senior telecommunications manager implementing TQM in government, coupled with 18 years at the forefront of initiatives in quality management at hospitals and healthcare organizations across the United States and Canada, have solidified his reputation as a change expert.

Michael is a University of Winnipeg graduate, holding Bachelors Degrees in both Science  and Administrative Studies. He received his MBA from California Coast University. He is a Certified LEAN Black Belt for Healthcare.

He was awarded The Canadian Association of Professional Speakers Winnipeg Chapter, Presentation Mastery Award for Speaking Excellence in 2004. He was a finalist in the 1998 and a semi finalist in the 2000 and 2014 World Championship of Public Speaking. He received his “Certified Speaking Professional” designation from the National Speakers Association and The Global Speakers Federation in July 2009, one of only 551 worldwide holding the designation.  He received his Lean Black Belt for Healthcare from the Institute of Industrial Engineers in 2013.

He was honoured with the Essence of Manitoba CAPS Award in 2015 by the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers, Manitoba Chapter. This annual award is given to a CAPS, Manitoba Chapter member who has demonstrated the spirit of sharing, leading and inspiring others, both within the CAPS organization and in the community at large. These actions will align with the CAPS vision, mission and values and include the qualities of generosity, spirit, professionalism and leadership.

Michael is a member of The Canadian Association of Professional Speakers, Toastmasters International, The Magic Club of Winnipeg, The Canadian Association for Therapeutic Humour, The Society of American Magicians and The University of Winnipeg Alumni Association.
